What If?

Philippians 4:8
"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things." 

Have you ever found yourself thinking about "what ifs" and all kinds of other worry, or dwelling on an unwholesome thought towards someone who you think really deserves what you are thinking for them?  This usually leads to unnecessary stress and strife.  Our adversary attacks our mind.  He takes us captive through our thoughts and carries us away to a place we have no business in as children of the Most High.  Sometimes it is just us relying on our own strength to face the challenges of life.  

II Corinthians 10:5 says “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” This is part of spiritual warfare.  When we find ourselves thinking this way we need to examine it in light of Gods steadfast truth rather than being led by our emotions which change constantly.

The answer to anxiety and much else is found in the previous text to the original verse above. Philippians 4:6-7 tells us to “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanks-giving let your requests be made known to God.”   By doing so you have taken all the what if’s and placed them in the hands of our Almighty God, who possesses the strength to overcome all where He is given reign.  We then need to practice the things of God (Philippians 4:9) & He will provide the Peace in our thinking that none other in this world can supply (John 14:27). 

What if we were obedient and kept our minds focused on the truth of His promise in our lives?  What if we allowed Him to truly be Lord, trusting Him as a child trusts a good father?  How much more peace would we have if we truly believed Him at His word, knowing that He is leading us?  

Pray.  Trust.  Be at  Peace knowing your life is in His hands.                         ***************************************************************
