Body Parts

Ephesians 4:15-16
“but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.”

Have you ever wished that you were like someone else?  That you had that spiritual gift that Joe has or that you were more like Joannie?  Truth is, as stated in His Word above, we all have something  to “supply” to the Body of Christ.  We are the body.  Every part of the body works best when the rest of the body is healthy and performing it’s function.  We all have a unique place that He has purposed us for (Psalm 139:16).   Do not wish to be as someone else thinking that they have a bigger impact on the kingdom.  Rather, fulfill the position that you have been created for.

We all need each other to properly work in our individual gifting for the whole body (the church, you and I) to operate to it’s fullest potential.  Ask for revelation of that which you are to do for Him.  1 Corinthians 12:18 tells us that “….now God has placed the members, each one of them, in the body, just as He desired.”  We all cannot preach on Sundays.  Who then would there be to listen?

Imagine what it would be like if there was no one to set up for worship.  The volunteers in children’s ministry and in the prisons, those visiting the sick and homebound, those that you don’t see on stage are enabling the rest of the body to do their part as well.  And think of how church would be if no one cleaned the bathrooms, greeted you at the door or made copies of the message for you to take with you?  The “behind the scenes” members are as important if not more as the ones we all see “doing the stuff”.

1 Corinthians 12:23 says “and those members of the body which we deem less honorable, on these we bestow more abundant honor, and our less presentable members become much more presentable…”  No matter how “small” you think your service is unto God, it is GIANT.  Ephesians 2:10 says “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.”

Walk after Him with all of your heart.  Follow Him where He leads with courage. He will place you where you are supposed to be (Genesis 2:15) and you will find fulfillment in your special purpose!  We need each other in our own special place to accomplish His purposes on Earth.
